How do you get ready for a baseball tryout?

I have a baseball tryout in a month, and I want to be physically/mentally ready. I really want to make this team. Any advice?|||Defense first?? In baseball?? I don't think so. I have never seen a league where they have a "Designated Fielder" rather than a Designated Hitter. Work on your hitting man. GOOD teams will look at your offense and worry about your defense later. There will come a time when GOOD teams will need pinch hitters in situations. GOOD coaches will know this, and are more likely to take a good offensive player that is shaky in the field over a good fielder that can't hit. Also, hustle everywhere. Run on the field, run off of the field. This is a simple thing, and very easy to do. If you have time, work on your defense, but I must stress that this will be the least important part of your game in a tryout. In the event that you are practicing with the kids that are already on the team, find the Captain(s) and do whatever they tell you to do. If any player is going to have input on new guys it is going to be the Captain. Make friends with him. In summary, you have to try to impress in a tryout. Hit the ball as far and as hard as you can, and throw the ball as far and as hard as you can. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT hit a cut-off man if you are an outfielder. It is better to throw the ball out of the park than to hit a cut-off man during a tryout. You want to show them how hard and far you can throw, not how accurate. Accuracy will come later. Again, don't worry about your fielding lol. Very unimportant.

Good hitters only get a hit 30% of the time because of good pitching not good defense. I have no idea where the myth originates that a good defensive player will be a good hitter. That's absolutely fallacious, and it has no logic behind it whatsoever. Anyone who knows anything about baseball knows that you can hide bad defensive players ESPECIALLY if they are good hitters. It is a little more difficult to hide a bad hitter in the lineup because he is going to bat at least 4 times during a game, and possibly once or more in an RBI situation. A bad defender may go an entire week without even having a ball hit to him. Naturally there are positions where defense is important such as shortstop and second base. These guys do not have to be as good at offense as the other position players, because they are generally in there for defense. Work on your hitting! I guarantee if you go out and hit 5 or 6 balls out of the park during a batting practice round but muffed your defense, that a good coach would be more likely to keep you than if you made 5 or 6 diving catches in the outfield and could not hit the ball out of the infield.|||Im a assistant baseball coach for a high school, when i look at something, I want defense first, offense later, and it usually works. I look at your arm strength, how good you are at grounders, fly balls..etc. Go to the park work on these things. Coaches figure is you can throw, you can hit. So focus on your defense. Mentally, just take a deep breath and have confidence in yourself, of course you are going to be nervous, you can;t do anything about that, just relax, focus and let your game speak for it's self. But WORK ON YOUR DEFENSE! GOOD coaches know that when looking at your DEFENSE, you can know how good you are at hitting they figure that you are a good all around player. THIS I DO KNOW! FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND RECREATIONAL TEAMS, DEFENSE IS IMPORTANT. Why do you think good players only hit the ball 30 percent of the time, because of good defense.|||Stretch every day and make sure to eat well so u will have strength then just throw the ball against a wall or play catch after have some one toss you balls to hit to get warmed up after that make them throw it hard to get you comfortable. Throw and catch pop flys too. Keep doing that every day till you break a sweat. Also don't get into bad habits by short arming a throw go all the way thruu. Make sure u ask someone good if you are doing everything properly after you are done stretch agian to cooldown ;) I went all the way to county so trust me it works I hit 5 homeruns in a season and I'm only 5 ft tall|||Get a lot of BP in the cage or at a local batting cage. Stay fit and work on your conditioning also. And Just relax because you don't wanna be nervous and choke. So just be confident in yourself and go as hard as you can.|||Go out to a batting cage and hit some balls. If you can, you should try pitching and catching. Good baseball teams want and all-around guy. Just relax, and have fun, and remember, ALWAYS PRACTICE!|||Everyone had some good tips but i'd recommend (if you have someone to play catch with) play a lot of long toss. Found that it is the best way to strengthen your throwing arm.|||play baseball with your friends or something|||Do some running, work on your hitting, and work on fielding!wear proper gear, cleats ,pants and a hat and a shirt!|||just do some simple excercises and throwing and batting
